Donald Trump calls Netanyahu "Great Warrior Prime Minister" while backing his re‑election

President Donald Trump announced his support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bid to remain in office, saying the two leaders have a close partnership and a common stance toward Tehran, which prompted the endorsement just days before Israel’s Oct. 27 parliamentary vote. Trump explained that he had waited for an opportune moment and described Netanyahu as a dependable, forceful figure whose leadership, he warned, could influence Washington’s involvement in regional tensions. The backing arrives as polls suggest Netanyahu’s coalition may fall short of the 61 seats needed to form a government, and the president’s public vote could bolster the incumbent’s standing. Netanyahu thanked Trump on social media, while his main challenger, Gadi Eisenkot, emphasized that the election is a domestic decision for Israeli voters.
