The UK government has approved the Jackdaw gas field and is considering the Rosebank oil field, the North Sea's largest undeveloped resource. While the Energy Secretary has backed Jackdaw, reports suggest she may reject Rosebank, a claim the department calls speculation. Amidst this debate, former US President Donald Trump urged the UK to fully exploit its North Sea energy reserves, advocating for increased drilling and opposing wind power. The approval of Jackdaw is projected to boost domestic gas production, create jobs, and provide economic benefits, though environmental groups oppose further fossil fuel development.
