“"insufficient supply of interceptor missiles"”
A Russian missile and drone barrage struck Kyiv early Monday, killing at least 15 people and damaging residential buildings, hours before US President Donald Trump was set to attend a critical NATO summit in Turkey. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attributed the failure to intercept any of the ballistic missiles to what he described as an inadequate stock of interceptor missiles. Zelensky urged allies, particularly the US and European partners, to deliver stronger air-defense commitments at the Ankara summit, arguing that holding Patriot missiles in reserve only encourages further Russian attacks on civilian areas. The assault follows a lethal strike on Kyiv days earlier and underscores Ukraine’s growing difficulty defending its capital as Russia escalates its bombardment.
