Donald Trump says ad featuring criticism from his late mother would be "Ad of the Decade"

President Donald Trump on Friday reaffirmed his support for a $4 million ad from Republican Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy that targets Democratic rival Amy Acton and features Acton’s mother, from whom she is estranged, questioning her truthfulness. In a Thursday social media post, Trump said Republicans were being treated unfairly and claimed a similar situation involving criticism from his own late mother would become a prominent political story that Democrats would embrace. At the White House, he said the controversy had not changed his position. Several Republicans, including Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, have objected to the spot; Acton’s campaign says it gives attention to an abusive mother. Acton has said she was sexually abused as a child, and NBC News obtained court records showing her late stepfather was indicted in 1978 on a child-rape charge.
