Kim Jong Un says to "forever remember" Chinese role in Korean War

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un traveled home by road Sunday after a Saturday stop at a Korean War memorial in Dandong, a Chinese border city, according to state media. KCNA said he crossed a newly opened bridge between the countries, a move seen as encouraging more trade. The outlet emphasized strong historical ties dating to the 1950-53 conflict. Kim was guided by Chinese official Wang Huning and accompanied by his sister, Kim Yo Jong, and Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui. At the memorial, KCNA reported, he made remarks about Chinese participation in the war and bilateral history. The visit was viewed as a new economic push before President Donald Trump’s regional trip next month, while Pyongyang has also deepened military ties with Moscow.
