Donald Tusk says "caution and vigilance are necessary" on talks with Moscow
“absolute caution and vigilance are necessary in such contacts”

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he told Finland’s Alexander Stubb and Norway’s Jonas Gahr Stoere that care was needed in their contacts with Moscow. The Nordic leaders had phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday to press for an end to the Ukraine war, a departure from most Western European leaders’ avoidance of direct talks with him, then spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Their outreach was linked to planned Russian-Ukrainian-U.S. talks in Abu Dhabi next month. The Kremlin’s account gave no sign that Putin had changed position, and Russia’s foreign minister said the conversation had yielded no new development. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she saw no sign Russia wanted peace, while Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said other European leaders were not informed.
