Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described new British support as an important sign of outside backing as Ukraine enters what is expected to be an especially hard winter of war. According to the report, the U.K. pledged 10 billion pounds in more funding over three years, plus 500 million pounds at once for aerial defense; Zelensky spoke with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham about the package. The Netherlands also promised 500 million euros in military assistance for the winter and 1.2 billion euros in civilian aid, with some aimed at emergency fixes for utilities and factories. Speaking Wednesday at a Hague news conference with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, Zelensky said Russia had fired more than 100 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and surrounding areas since mid-October, hitting power plants and other infrastructure.
