Donald Trump stated that the current conflict with Iran "should have been taken care of long before I came here," asserting that he did not initiate the hostilities. This statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, including reports of a vessel on fire in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intercepting an MQ-1 drone. The US Defense Secretary also recently dismissed the Pentagon's chief planner. These events occur despite recent Iran-focused talks brokered by Oman.
