Donald Trump says of request to arrange Bill Maher meeting: "Fellas, this guy’s a Goofball"

President Donald Trump used a lengthy Sunday Truth Social post to criticize comedian Bill Maher, his HBO program and producer Chuck LaBella. In the post, Trump said LaBella and Kid Rock repeatedly contacted him about arranging a meeting with Maher and recounted responding to that request with an insult; he also said he later met Maher after becoming president but would not go on Maher’s show. On Friday’s Real Time, Maher read portions of the post and disputed several claims, including Trump’s account of their phone contacts. The clash followed Maher’s recent White House dinner with Trump and on-air jokes that Trump’s post seemingly answered, making the dispute a public back-and-forth between the president and the late-night host.
