“calls openly for the annihilation of Israel”
On Monday, Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu told a U.S. morning program that Washington should not supply Turkey with F‑35 aircraft or related engines, saying such a move would alter the regional balance of power that Israel currently sustains through its aerial dominance and U.S. presence. He made the comments as President Donald Trump prepared to travel to Ankara for a NATO summit, where Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hopes to acquire jet engines for a domestic stealth‑fighter effort and possibly re‑enter the F‑35 program after being excluded in 2019 following its purchase of a Russian missile system. Netanyahu also asserted that Erdogan publicly calls for Israel’s destruction, and he reiterated his close relationship with Trump despite recent tensions over Iran.
