JD Vance says Suozzi is "worst congressman in the entire United States" in NY-3 race

In the lead‑up to the 2026 midterm elections, the contest for New York’s 3rd Congressional District has become a high‑profile rematch, with incumbent Democrat Tom Suozzi facing Republican former assemblyman Mike LiPetri, who narrowly lost to Suozzi in 2024. The campaign has centered on disagreements over President Trump’s trade policies, the conflict in Iran, and the impact of the Biden administration on food and fuel costs, while LiPetri is promoting a child‑care tax deduction. National Republican figures have been supporting LiPetri, and during a June 2026 speech, Ohio Senator JD Vance denounced Suozzi as the poorest‑performing member of Congress, a comment that underscores the heightened partisan attention on the race as both parties vie to either retain or flip the seat.
