“make a deal, or we’re going to finish the job”
Three tankers were hit by projectiles Tuesday in the Strait of Hormuz, the latest attacks on vessels in the critical waterway. Iran was suspected but did not claim responsibility, while one of the struck ships, a Qatari natural-gas carrier, caught fire off Oman. The assaults come as US-Iran negotiations appear stalled following the killing of Iran’s late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose funeral drew mourners calling for President Donald Trump’s death. Speaking Monday at the White House, Trump warned Iran it must reach an agreement or face further military escalation, saying he could quickly destroy the country’s infrastructure. The US is pushing to fully reopen the strait, end the war that began February 28, and limit Tehran’s nuclear program. A fifth of global oil and gas once passed through the channel.
