The assaults come as US-Iran negotiations appear stalled following the killing of Iran’s late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose funeral drew mourners calling for President Donald Trump’s death. Speaking Monday at the White House, Trump warned Iran it must reach an agreement or face further military escalation, saying he could quickly destroy the country’s infrastructure. The US is pushing to fully reopen the strait, end the war that began February 28, and limit Tehran’s nuclear program. A fifth of global oil and gas once passed through the channel.
