The International Olympic Committee has provisionally ended its suspension of Russia’s Olympic body, clearing the way for Russian athletes to return to international competition if they satisfy anti-doping requirements. Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee condemned the move as premature and unjustified while Russia’s full-scale invasion continues. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, meeting in Turkey with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during the 2026 NATO summit, described the effects of Russian strikes on Ukrainian towns and residential areas and pressed for more air-defense missiles. The IOC stressed it still condemns the war but said the earlier ban was no longer applicable. A decision on the display of Russian symbols at future Games remains pending.
