The International Olympic Committee has temporarily ended its suspension of Russia’s Olympic committee, allowing Russian athletes to return to international events if they satisfy anti-doping requirements. Ukraine’s Olympic body strongly objected, calling the move premature and unjustified while Russia’s full-scale invasion continues. In response, Russian sports minister Mikhail Degtyarev stated that the IOC’s action showed sports should remain separate from political interference. The IOC stressed that it still condemns Russia’s war, will not hold competitions in Russia, and has not decided whether Russia can display its flag or anthem at future Games.
