“We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER!”
President Donald Trump announced that the United States will continue talks with Iran but that the ceasefire agreement is terminated. The announcement came after American forces struck roughly 90 locations inside Iran, and Iran retaliated by attacking U.S. allies in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. The brief ceasefire, intended to last 60 days, collapsed after about three weeks. At least 14 people died in Iran. Trump warned that the situation would escalate further if Iran persists in targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil transit route. Separately, Israeli intelligence reportedly warned the U.S. of an Iranian plot to assassinate Trump, though some American officials suspect the warning may be intended to influence policy.
