“managed to shoot down most of the targets – but not the ballistic ones”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russian forces launched over 120 drones and a dozen missiles, half of them ballistic, at Kyiv overnight. While air defenses intercepted most of the incoming weapons, Zelensky noted they failed to stop the ballistic missiles. The strikes damaged residential buildings, offices, and a theological school, and wounded 12 people in the capital, including two children. Earlier in the week, a separate Russian attack on a weapons warehouse in Vyshneve killed 10; Zelensky said officials at state arms producer Ukroboronprom who authorized the warehouse’s location in a residential area have been identified and will face accountability. The Ukrainian leader reiterated his call for allies to speed up delivery of air defense systems, particularly Patriot batteries.
