In a Monday post on Truth Social, Trump stated that selecting her would be an appropriate tribute to Graham, who died Saturday from an aortic dissection at age 71 and had secured the Republican nomination before seeking re-election. McMaster, who holds the authority to choose an interim senator, plans to announce his decision Monday afternoon. Other Republicans, including Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette and Representatives Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman, have also expressed interest, while Senator Tim Scott endorsed Nordone. A special primary is set for August 11, with the general election on November 3 against Democrat Annie Andrews. Nordone, who works with disabled individuals and was raised by her brother after their parents died, has not commented publicly. The appointment could affect the Senate’s narrow Republican majority.
