““And I once told her a long time ago, I said, ‘This is a very dangerous—being president is a very dangerous profession.’ I said, ‘Why didn’t you tell me that, Ainsley? I wouldn’t have run.’””
During a Monday call to *Fox & Friends*, President Donald Trump was asked about the two-year anniversary of an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Instead of responding directly, he shifted to the relationship between Fox hosts Ainsley Earhardt and Sean Hannity, who are engaged. Trump recalled telling Earhardt that being president is a dangerous job and said if she had warned him, he would not have run. He then criticized media coverage, claiming his sarcasm would be taken out of context. Trump also mentioned statistics on past presidential assassinations. This marks the second time he has brought up the couple during an interview on the network, following a similar digression in August 2025 about crime in Washington.
