The attack is part of a wider Ukrainian campaign of long-range strikes on Russian military and energy sites, intended to cut Moscow’s war revenue and push Russian President Vladimir Putin toward negotiations, according to Zelensky. Volgograd’s governor confirmed the strike injured ten people and damaged production buildings. Separately, a Russian drone attack on a home in Ukraine’s Sumy region killed a 66-year-old man. Zelensky has ordered a 40-day escalation of such operations, reportedly to compel Russia to end the war.
