“Your legacy will not soon be forgotten Coach!”
Former Kent State University football standout Jim Corrigall, a Canadian defensive lineman who played his entire 12-year CFL career with the Toronto Argonauts after turning down a second-round NFL draft selection, has died at age 80. Kent State announced his passing Wednesday; the cause was not disclosed, though Corrigall had previously stated he likely suffered from CTE. In a social media post, current Golden Flashes head coach Mark Carney paid tribute to Corrigall, who was one of just five players in program history to have his jersey retired. Carney’s remarks honored Corrigall’s lasting impact as a player and coach, following the university’s own statement mourning the loss of a revered alumnus and Hall of Fame inductee.
