Demis Hassabis, DeepMind’s co-founder, told Nature in 2025 that operating in the UK allows for more thoughtful deliberation than working constantly inside the main American tech hub. This regulatory and geographic positioning has drawn firms seeking a more measured environment, though some researchers note that AISI is not a formal regulator and that the current safety focus may overlook broader societal impacts.
