Keir Starmer urges "everybody to come together" after murder of former MP Ann Widdecombe
“urge everybody to come together at a moment like this”
Following the murder of former Conservative MP and broadcaster Ann Widdecombe, who was found dead in her Dartmoor home after an apparent attack on July 8, police arrested 28-year-old Joshua Kerry on suspicion of murder and later on terrorism-related grounds. Counter Terrorism Policing has taken over the investigation. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, after speaking with the leaders of the main political parties, called for public unity in response to the killing. The comments came amid heightened concerns over the safety of politicians, following the murders of Jo Cox and David Amess. Widdecombe, 78, had served as an MP and MEP and was a prominent figure in British politics for decades.
