Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia "used about 1,450 strike drones" in week before Kyiv attack

Russia carried out a large‑scale rocket and missile barrage on Kyiv overnight, killing one person and injuring at least 14, while Ukrainian air‑defence units reported downing roughly half of the incoming projectiles and neutralising more than a hundred unmanned aerial vehicles. President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that, in the week preceding the attack, Russian forces had deployed roughly 1,450 attack drones, over 1,640 precision bombs and 99 missiles of various types against Ukrainian targets. The strikes followed Ukrainian drone operations that hit two storage facilities belonging to the Russian retailer Wildberries, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Both sides cited the actions as retaliation for attacks on civilian infrastructure, underscoring the escalating tit‑for‑tat pattern of the conflict.
