President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he is nominating Lance Schroyer, a former Oklahoma state trooper and retired Marine, to serve as director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Schroyer, currently a senior adviser at the Department of Homeland Security, would replace Todd Lyons, who left the agency in late May. In a Truth Social post, Trump highlighted Schroyer’s three decades in law enforcement and previous collaboration with ICE, calling him a patriot with operational field experience. Schroyer’s role as senior adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin included coordinating immigration enforcement and acting as a liaison among agencies. Mullin urged the Senate to quickly confirm Schroyer, noting the agency has lacked a Senate-confirmed director for more than ten years.
