Satya Nadella says AMD lineup for Azure AI workloads brings "performance, scale and choice"

Microsoft has struck a major infrastructure deal with AMD, committing to deploy the chipmaker’s integrated Helios Rackscale system—combining custom GPUs, server processors, networking, and software—across its Azure cloud for large-scale AI inference tasks. AMD chief Lisa Su described the partnership as deepening years of collaboration. Microsoft chief Satya Nadella stated that the expanded AMD lineup provides Azure users with the capabilities necessary for next-generation AI workloads, highlighting the importance of processing power, expandability, and customer flexibility. The arrangement, which includes AMD’s EPYC CPUs and Pensando networking alongside Azure Boost, positions AMD to challenge Nvidia’s dominance in rack-scale AI. Shipments are slated for the second half of 2026, with financial terms undisclosed.
