Donald Trump says "how bad communism is" in defending his TikTok presence
“And all I talk about is how bad communism is, right?”
President Donald Trump defended his administration’s embrace of TikTok, responding to critics who warn the app poses security risks due to its Chinese connections. In a recent interview, he argued that his own highly popular presence on the platform—citing his top ranking and billions of views—undermines those concerns, pointing out that his posts consistently criticize communist ideology. The comment came as most Cabinet members prepared to launch official TikTok accounts, following a Justice Department legal opinion that the current version of the app, now majority-owned by American investors and operating independently from its Chinese parent company, no longer violates a 2022 federal ban on government devices. Trump has credited TikTok with helping him connect with younger voters and win the 2024 election.
