Donald Trump says US will "destroy one bridge or power plant" for each Iranian strike on a ship
“destroy one bridge or power plant”
Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi group claimed attacks on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, while Iran's Revolutionary Guards reported a separate vessel explosion in the Strait of Hormuz. In response to rising threats against commercial shipping, President Donald Trump stated that for every Iranian strike on a vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would destroy a piece of critical infrastructure such as a bridge or power plant, according to CNN. Iranian officials, cited by local media, countered that Tehran would target regional energy and infrastructure sites if such U.S. retaliation occurred. The incidents have heightened fears of simultaneous disruptions at two key global maritime chokepoints through which much of the world's oil and gas moves, prompting tanker operators to reroute. The U.S. military meanwhile completed a 12th night of strikes against Iranian targets.
