Christine Lagarde says "Quebec subscribes to the objectives" of Canada's internal alcohol trade deal

Quebec has not yet joined a new agreement allowing Canadians to buy wine, beer and spirits directly from producers in other provinces, a deal meant to ease internal trade barriers amid escalating U.S. tariffs. Nine provinces and two territories have signed on, letting residents order alcohol for home delivery across most of Canada. Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette stated that her province supports the accord’s aims but requires legislative changes before it can participate, adding that those adjustments could occur once parliamentary work resumes. The Northwest Territories has also declined to sign, citing local alcohol prohibitions, while Yukon has expressed support and is expected to join later. The agreement builds on an earlier Ontario–Nova Scotia pact and aims to boost economic activity within Canada during the trade dispute.
