Donald Trump says "the U.S. will hold Iran responsible," if Houthi attacks resume

U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Yemen’s Houthi rebels strike ships again, Washington will hold Iran accountable, designating the Houthis as Tehran’s proxy, and will deliver “major military punishment” to both Iran and the Houthis. The warning came after Houthi fighters attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, expanding a conflict that already includes U.S. airstrikes on Iran and Iranian retaliation against U.S. bases in neighboring countries. The fighting has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and now threatens the Bab el-Mandeb strait, driving oil prices higher. Separately, the U.S. House passed a largely symbolic resolution directing Trump to halt hostilities against Iran unless Congress approves, while the Senate blocked a similar measure.
