“with DECADES of experience locking up the worst of the worst”
President Donald Trump has nominated former Oklahoma state trooper and Marine Lance Schroyer to lead U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, describing him as someone with extensive experience apprehending dangerous criminals. Schroyer would replace Todd Lyons, who left the acting director role in May after the administration dismissed then–Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Schroyer has reportedly been involved in the president’s mass deportation campaign, working with state and federal partners to remove unauthorized immigrants from Oklahoma, according to Senator Markwayne Mullin. No Senate-confirmed ICE director has been appointed since 2017, and Mullin urged quick confirmation. The nomination comes amid ongoing public criticism of the administration’s enforcement tactics, including controversy over the deaths of two U.S. citizens during immigration raids in Minneapolis.
