Emmanuel Macron says aid will reach "all those who have lost everything" in Bordeaux wildfire

During a visit to the Bordeaux region, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the catastrophic wildfire that has destroyed over 200 homes, noting that his administration would assist everyone who had lost their property. The blaze in southwestern France, described by officials as the nation’s worst fire-related crisis since World War II, forced the evacuation of some 220,000 people and injured 80 firefighters. Macron’s remarks came as crews battled the flames ahead of an approaching heatwave, with authorities also investigating possible arson—162 arrests have been made since early July. Across Europe, similar fires in Spain have scorched 150,000 hectares, prompting leaders to call for stronger climate action.
