Benjamin Netanyahu: "Because I think, in many ways, it’s his decision"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets President Donald Trump on Tuesday for the first time since the two launched a joint military campaign against Iran, amid growing public strains over how to proceed. Netanyahu faces a reelection challenge and Trump is under domestic pressure to end a costly war before midterm elections. In a recent TV appearance, Netanyahu indicated he views the next steps on Iran as ultimately up to Trump, noting that avoiding heavy combat would be acceptable as long as Tehran’s nuclear ambitions are halted. The two leaders are also expected to discuss a U.S.-Israel framework with Lebanon and expansion of the Abraham Accords, while Netanyahu works to convince Trump he will not disrupt diplomatic efforts in Gaza or southern Lebanon.
